Trigger Point Dry Needling, often referred to as *"dry needling"*, is a physical therapy treatment technique that allows therapists to reach a dysfunctional area of muscle. To dry needle, a therapist uses an extremely thin acupuncture needle to induce involuntary contractions in muscle. The needle causes tense muscle fibers to twitch and release triggerpoints, immediately allowing for the relief of pain and improved function.  One of the best ways to help diagnose and treat our patients’ pain is by finding the tender spots in taught bands of muscle. These “trigger points” can contribute to prolonged pain, mobility problems, weakness and dysfunction, if not detected by medical professionals familiar with commonly referred pain patterns. Myofascial pain is one of the most overlooked causes of persistent pain. Don’t let your pain be ignored. Our dry needling experts can help you learn what is causing your myofascial pain so you can be active in your own health and treatment. At Empower U PT & Performance, our therapists are certified by [Myopain Seminars](http://myopainseminars.com/)®,  the industry leader in trigger point dry needling. This certification is extremely thorough and ensures the highest quality of treatments. We are able to recognize and prescribe effective dry needling treatment and deliver effective and long-lasting relief for our patients. **Schedule an appointment with one of our Certified Manual Trigger Point Therapists today!** [Schedule Appointment](https://empoweruptp.com/physical-therapy-contact?hsLang=en) ![IMG_0030](https://empoweruptp.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_0030.jpg?width=700&height=525&name=IMG_0030.jpg "IMG_0030") ### **Is pain holding you back from working out, being active, or living your strongest life?** ## Want to learn more?
